Christmas has come early at Brighton College Archives, with 'phase one' of our re-fit nearly complete.

Last week, vinyl flooring was laid and rolling-racking installed at the archive. All material has also been re-packaged, and is ready to settle into it's new home. A wonderful end to 2015!

With improved shelving, comes improved access - and this will be the focus of 'phase two'. Over the next six months, a separate storage space will be transformed into a Reading Room, enabling researchers to view original material via appointment.

Abigail Wharne

Archivist

Abigail joined the Development team in April 2015, having previously worked for the University of Sussex Special Collections, East Sussex Record Office and Towner Art Gallery. She regularly answers historical enquiries and catalogues archive material, so that it can be accessed by College staff and the public.

Abigail also manages the school’s heritage collections, including rare books and a wide range of artefacts. As a qualified teacher, she enjoys using archives to inspire and educate Brighton College pupils.
