With some many OBs attending Universities in the West of England, we decided that it would be only be fitting to host a dinner in Bristol following on from our OB London, Cambridge and Oxford dinners.
OB Reunions
This year saw the third OB London Universities Dinner and we were joined not only by teachers from the Common Room, but also one of our governors, Andrew Cayley (Br. 1977-82) who himself attended UCL. The Old Brightonians is strongly supported by the College Governors, and it was brilliant that Andrew was able to join us.
Join us for the Annual Old Brightonians President’s Luncheon hosted by Sir John Chilcot at the Travellers Club on Thursday 8th March 2018.
For seven years now we have held a dinner for the OB Oxbridge students, alternating between Oxford and Cambridge. The number of OBs currently enrolled at these great institutions is now so large (last two years 29 OBs and 39 to go up in September) that we held our first Brighton College Oxford Dinner on Thursday 4th February, with 'Cambridge' following on 4th March at Downing College.
It was a chilly evening in November when the class of 2004 congregated back in the College in the newly renamed Scott's Café (previously the Café de Paris). Just past seven o'clock the first few Old Brightonians intrepidly made their way across the threshold, through the (currently scaffold-ridden) gateway and across the quad – ten years since they left as pupils.
A reunion for those who left Brighton College 60 years ago brought together a number of OBs who had not seen each other since schooldays.
In 1996 there was an extraordinary collection of old faces collected together for the first time in 14 years!
The last time we were together at the Bristol, on our last day of school, the Channel Tunnel had just opened, Nelson Mandela was two months into his Presidency, and the Apple that had fired Steve Jobs was failing to convince the world that it needed a portable digital assistant known as the Newton.
