It was a pleasure to meet Headmasters Dr Richard Cairns, and Brendan Law as well as other officials at the recent BCAD event at the Fairmont Hotel, Abu Dhabi on the 4th November 2010. A number of Old Brightonians were present and it would be good to keep in touch with those in the GCC region, as well as trying to make contact with colleagues from 1965 to 1969 when I was at the College.

08 November 2010 John Page (former staff) writes, 'In my local paper last week there was a notice of a lecture by Dom Timothy Bavin on 'A Monastery as a Sanctuary'. T J Bavin had been a clever boy in my Sixth Form in 1954, together with Bob Alexander & David Quayle. They all duly secured A grades in Latin without much help from me.
08 October 2010 David and his wife, Cristina, are proud to announce the birth of their son, Hugo Bayne Lawrence on 8th October 2010, weighing 7lbs 1oz.

Dear OBs, as many of you know, I have been diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease. Fortunately the onset has been fairly slow but the big problem with this disease is that not many people know about, there is no cure and there has been hardly any research to find a cure (if you would like to know more about it go to www.mndassociation.org).

23 September 2010 Together with the charity Dig Deep (www.digdeep.org, registered number 1121493) a friend I studied with at Nottingham University and I hope to construct a biogas digester at Enkare Nairowua Primary School in Majimoto, Kenya.

We began researching and fundraising in August and will travel to Majimoto to manage the project on a day to day basis in November until completion early February.

"I visited my Dad in Christchurch New Zealand this last Christmas and ran into an OB in Akaroa, NZ. I didn't write his name down and haven't a clue how to get in touch with him. Are there any Old Brightonians out there that might be able to help me contact him?

Andrew Cayley (B. 1977-82) is the UN appointed International Co-Prosecutor of the Khmer Rouge Tribunal in Phnom Penh Cambodia.

26 July 2010

It is with a certain amount of nervous pride that the Association brings news of a new film written by OB Robin Hill (H. 1987-89).

14 July 2010 This is a recent pic of Michael and his daughter at her Graduation Party.

Michael recently sent in a terrific old picture of OBs in Southern France in the Summer of 1975... look out for that in the "Memory lane" gallery sometime soon!
01 August 2009 Toby Weeden (C. 1989-1993) married Courtney Love on the 01 August 2009 at RAF St Clements Danes Piccadilly with a reception at the RAF Club Mayfair. Many of Courtney's Canadian family managed the trip across, and the newly weds spent their honeymoon in Madeira (and not a flood in sight thankfully!).
07 November 2009 Congratulations to Rachna Metha, whose Indian wedding was held at The Brighton Dome on 7th November 2010 following a Civil ceremony on 2nd October.
