Cricket

150 not out and still with plenty of gas in the tank would be the best way to present Brighton College Cricket today. We as a school have had an enviable record in cricket since the early 1980’s and it is great to see that this still the case in 2005.

In a season during which sunshine has been a rarity, it shone on the Home Ground for the first round of the Cricketer Cup. Electing to bat on a sound but slow wicket the Old Brightonians made a promising start with Adam Davies (18) and Alisdair Wilson (24) batting with comparative comfort against steady medium pace bowling from Tonbridge.

The Old Brightonians were drawn against Charterhouse Friars for the first round of the National Cricketer Cup 2016. We had a home fixture for the game, the first time in many years the draw was favourable for the Old Brightonians with many of the previous winners being in the other half of the draw.

The annual cricket game between the college and the Old Brightonians was played at the Home Ground on a sunny afternoon 23 June.

1st Round Away to Harrow Wanderers.

The Old Brightonians travelled to Harrow School for the 1st round of the Cricketer Cup. We have not played at home for several seasons now, but that is the luck of the draw. We have a long history of cricket against Harrow both at school level and in the OB's Cup. Our last two visits have been unsuccessful against The Wanderers. One sticks out in my mind in particular when we lost to them in the semi-finals of the competition back in the early noughties, the furthest we have reached in the Cup since we won the competition back in the 60's.

Sarah Taylor (Ch. 2002-07) has become the first women's cricketer to be inducted into the 'Legends Lane' at the BrightonandHoveJobs.com Sussex County ground.

Former pupil and England wicketkeeper Sarah Taylor (W. 2002-07) has been named ICC Women's T20 Cricketer of the Year at the LG ICC Awards in Colombo.
