It is with great sadness that we have to report the passing of James Ager on Monday 29th March. As in everything he did, he showed great strength and bravery in his fight over the last four years with Motor Neurone Disease.
During his time at the College James was a member of the 1st XI cricket team from the age of thirteen (representing Sussex Schools) and Vice-Captain in his final year. He was also Captain of the 1st XI hockey team and Captain of the 1st XV rugby team.
Rugby was his great passion and on leaving school in 1978, James played for Rosslyn Park until 1991 including the first year of the Premiership. In his time at Rosslyn Park James also gained county honours for Surrey. James was Head of School House in his final year and Deputy Head of the school.
He leaves his wife, Lynne, and three children, Madelaine, Max & Megan.
James Brenan (S. 1972-77) attended James E Ager's Memorial Service at St Mary's Church, Wimbledon on 26th April 2010 and reports that it was a moving occassion that was well attended by OBs.
