We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Phyllida Stewart-Roberts on August 12th, 2016. Phyllida was a great supporter of the College and friend of the Old Brightonians, and devoted most of her life to voluntary public service, notably as an ambassador for St John Ambulance and as a popular Lord Lieutenant of East Sussex.

We are delighted to hear that Bloomberg Hong Kong Scottish have announced the signing of Gregor and Marcus Ramage (Ha. 2011-16) for the upcoming season. The 18 year old twins have recently moved to Hong Kong as part of Hong Kong Scottish’s first "Gap Year Programme." Marcus and Gregor have recently completed their IRB level 2 coaching certificates through The Hong Kong Rugby Union and will assist HKS coach in the local community as well as coach their junior club, The Flying Kukris.

The Entrepreneurship Programme has been running at the College with great success for a number of years. We have been delighted with the support that many alumni have lent to the programme and so we thought it would be interesting to have a look at how many alumni are currently involved in a business venture of their own, or are planning to be in the future. We have therefore put together a quick survey and would be grateful if you could take a few minutes to answer some of our questions.

On Thursday 30th June we celebrated at the College with a service for our leavers, and after the traditional leavers photographs on the lawn the College then celebrated with a Graduation Ceremony for Upper 6th Leavers.

This is the transcript of Simon Smith's address at Bill Blackshaw's Requiem Mass on 21st June 2016.

May the words of my mouth and the thoughts of all our hearts be always acceptable in your sight, O God our strength and our Redeemer.

William Simon Blackshaw. WSB. Bill. William was the Christian name of his grandfather, a clergyman and noted preacher. Simon because he was born on the Feast day of St Si-mon and Jude, 28 October, in 1930. His father Charles was a housemaster at Cranleigh and went on to become headmaster of the Prep school. A family conscious of its fore-bears and a life prescribed from its very beginning by the two influences that were to shape its course - the cycles and rhythms of the Church of England; and by schools.

On Friday 17th June we gathered to remember the 976 Old Brightonians who served in the Great War and in particular the 149 who died, never to return.
