Lt Col (Rtd) Anthony K Sharp, OBE (B. 1933-37) died on 24th August 2009 in hospital. Anthony was the former Commanding Officer 1st Battalion South Wales Borderers and Founder and first Headmaster of Bredon School.

On 27 September 1859 the first service was held in the college chapel (smaller then than it is now); and on Friday 2nd October 2009 a service was held to commemorate its 150th anniversary.

I am delighted to send you details of this year's GCSE results from Brighton College - the best results in the school's history, with 50 pupils achieving nothing less than an A grade.  The highlights include four sets of twins and a boy who moved to the school in Year 9 "to be himself" and clocked up 11 A*s including Classical Greek.

The College and the Association is saddened to hear of the death of one of our most accomplished alumni. Anthony Hockley was emeritus neurosurgeon at Birmingham’s Children’s and Queen Elizabeth hospitals, and a pioneer of paediatric and craniofacial reconstructive neurosurgery for children with severely deformed faces and heads.

The Head of School exercised an ancient (and probably apocryphal) right today by bringing livestock into the college and sporting a beard.

16 June 2009 Rt Hon Sir John Chilcot GCB (H/S. 1952-57) has been appointed chair of an inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the March 2003 invasion of Iraq, and its aftermath was announced in June 2009.

In view of the redevelopment of the squash courts, Martin Buss (D. 1954-58) has agreed that the sum of £40,000 which he originally donated for the refurbishment of the courts some years ago, should be applied to supporting a scholar from Kingsford Community School for two years. This very generous donation will provide opportunity to a bright boy or girl from a less privileged background who will now have the tremendous start in life they so deserve.
