This month's OB of the Month is Arnold Wong, an award-winning architect, based in Hong Kong. Arnold, who has always loved art and being creative, shares with us the challenges of his work and what he would tell his younger self.
We are pleased to share the news that OB Arnold Yok Fai Wong (Ab. 2006-08) has won the Hong Kong Institute of Architects Young Architect Award 2019-2020.
After a very unusual final term, Upper Sixth pupils based in Hong Kong were able to come together to celebrate the end of their final year at Brighton College with a special dinner on 26 June 2020.
On a balmy Wednesday night in Hong Kong, we hosted a drinks event at the China Club, in Central. Cathy, from the OB office, along with Mr Nick Fraser, Mr Steve Marshall-Taylor, Mr Michael Sloan and Mr Chris Fowler were delighted to meet with 20 Old Brightonians currently living and working in Hong Kong.
Our Hong Kong OBs have struck once again with a successful drinks meet up at the trendy Bread and Beast in Wanchai last Friday night.
Our Spring OB Hong Kong Drinks were a huge success at Mezcalito, a newly opened and exciting bar specialising in the Mexican Mezcal, on Central's On Lan Street, home to some of Hong Kong's finest bars and restaurants.
It was a lovely evening to host our first "Happy Hours" drinks in Hong Kong where there is a growing number of OBs who have returned to the city for work.
The Head Master Richard Cairns, and staff of Brighton College were given a warm welcome to Hong Kong by the community of pupils, parents and alumni at the Brighton College Dinner on 10th December at the Renaissance Harbour View Hotel.
Having started all Bloomberg Hong Kong Scottish's games in the premiership this season and following some great performances Marcus made his debut on the left wing for Hong Kong's National Team against Zimbabwe on 15th November 2016. Hong Kong ran out winners 34-11.
We are delighted to hear that Bloomberg Hong Kong Scottish have announced the signing of Gregor and Marcus Ramage (Ha. 2011-16) for the upcoming season. The 18 year old twins have recently moved to Hong Kong as part of Hong Kong Scottish’s first "Gap Year Programme." Marcus and Gregor have recently completed their IRB level 2 coaching certificates through The Hong Kong Rugby Union and will assist HKS coach in the local community as well as coach their junior club, The Flying Kukris.
Globe trotting Headmaster Richard Cairns clearly has taken a shine to Hong Kong, Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China. No sooner had he hosted an excellent evening at the China Club in late September than he was planning a return visit in December! This came to pass and we convened for dinner in the Peking Room at the American Club in Central.

Many congratulations to Ian Headley (U6th, Abraham) who has been selected by the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in London as one of five UK students to enrol on an all-expenses-paid summer school course in Hong Kong this summer.
